Olamaboro Legislative Arm
Elected Ward Councilors & Council LeaderComprises democratically elected representatives from all electoral wards, led by the Leader of the Council.
Structure and Composition
The Olamaboro Legislative Arm consists of the Leader, the Deputy Leader, and Councilors. All Councilors are elected by the citizens of their respective wards to act as their direct representatives. The Leader and the Deputy Leader are chosen by the councilors from among themselves to pilot the affairs of the legislative assembly.
Core Oversight Functions
- Budgetary Control: Debating, amending, or approving the annual budget of the Local Government Council (subject to the Chairman's veto, which can be overridden by a two-thirds majority of the members).
- Project Monitoring: Vetting and monitoring the execution of developmental projects and programmes approved in the annual budget.
- Financial Oversight: Examining and debating the monthly statements of income and expenditure rendered to the legislative council by the Executive Chairman.
- Advisory and Consultation: Consulting, advising, and liaising directly with the Executive Chairman to promote public welfare.
- Bylaw Enactments: Performing such other legislative functions as may be assigned to it under the Local Government Edicts of Kogi State.
