Administrative Departments

Directory of the six operational departments of the Olamaboro Local Government Council civil service.

Olamaboro civil service structure

In running the day-to-day affairs of Olamaboro Local Government Area, the executive cabinet is supported by six core departments. Each department is run by a professional Head of Department (HOD) of equal status, working in collaboration with political supervisors appointed by the Executive Chairman. The administration is anchored by the Head of Personnel Management (Director of Administration) and the Local Government Treasurer (Director of Finance).

Health Department

Supervised by Primary Health Care Board

Responsible for public health administration, sanitary conditions, immunizations, and primary healthcare clinics (PHCs) located across Okpo, Ogugu, and Imane districts.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Provision and maintenance of primary healthcare clinics.
  • Management of child immunization cold-chains.
  • Environmental sanitation inspection and cleanliness.
  • Public awareness campaigns on health (HIV/AIDS, sanitation, etc.).

Works Department

Supervised by Works and Housing Supervisory Council

Oversees building constructions, rural road grading, capital projects procurement, land administration, and borehole infrastructure development.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Construction and maintenance of rural feeder roads.
  • Sinking of boreholes and digging of public water wells.
  • LGA building constructions and furnishing.
  • Land survey and issuance of Customary Rights of Occupancy.

Education and Social Services

Supervised by Education and Social Board

Manages local educational institution support, community relations, social welfare schemes, and sports/skills development initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of primary schools and adult non-formal educational setups.
  • LGA Public Relations and information dissemination.
  • Social welfare support for vulnerable citizens and disaster victims.
  • Skills acquisition training (weaving, tailoring) for women and youths.

Treasury and Finance Department

Supervised by Director of Finance / Treasurer

Directs fund collection, bookkeeping, budget preparation advice, assets tracking, and civil service salary payroll administration.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Collection, custody, and disbursement of Local Government funds.
  • Formulating financial policies and forecasting revenues.
  • Maintaining accounting ledgers and ensuring auditing compliance.
  • Processing salaries, payrolls, and expenditure vouchers.

Personnel Department

Supervised by Director of Administration (DPM)

Coordinates recruitment, human resources management, staff training programmes, commerce units, and staff disengagement systems.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Acquisition, placement, and evaluation of council employees.
  • Staff career development and productivity management.
  • Welfare and promotion systems for civil service staff.
  • Disengagement and pension processing systems.

Agriculture and Natural Resources

Supervised by Agriculture Supervisory Council

Administers agricultural extensions, natural resources management, forestry conservation, and coordinates support for farmers (tractors, seedlings).

Core Responsibilities:
  • Provision of subsidized farm inputs (improved seedlings, fertilizers).
  • Supervision of council farm machinery and tractor hiring services.
  • Forestry control and natural resources monitoring.
  • Veterinary and animal husbandry extensions.
